We’re celebrating this Mental Health Awareness Week by giving back to the unsung heroes across their local communities who have played a vital role in supporting our patients’ recovery and reintegration journeys.
This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘community‘ and we are delighted be recognising individuals and organisations that make a real and lasting difference to the people we support. Throughout the week, our teams across the North West will be delivering special ‘thank you’ hampers and personalised messages to local businesses, groups and individuals including shops, libraries, churches, charities, and even a local farm.
Emma Swift, Registered Manager at Meadow Park Independent Mental Health Hospital, shared: “With the theme for this year’s awareness week being community, we thought it would be a great opportunity to give back to key people in the community that, although they might not know it, have made a massive impact for our patients.
We provide support to individuals who may be in a mental health crisis, need support to gain independence and move into the community, and their interactions as they gain this confidence are a huge part of the recovery journey.
Here at Meadow Park, we have decided to thank our local hairdresser, who has been supportive, kind and understanding, and our local bank who have helped the people we support with their finances. We are also thanking local convenience stores, the college, chiropodist, and more. These people might think they are just doing their job, but the difference they make is monumental.”
Alongside the community thank-yous, our six independent hospitals will also be hosting Community Fun Days to offer the people we support a chance to connect, enjoy activities, and learn about opportunities to engage with local community groups such as Men’s Sheds, which promotes wellbeing through shared activities and companionship.
