Kirsty joined Alternative Futures Group fifteen years ago. After working in a HR role for one of the largest construction firms in the UK, she realised that she wanted to move into the third sector to take on a role that would allow her to make a positive difference.
It was then she joined a community interest company (CIC) supporting individuals and under-represented groups back into employment. After this move, Kirsty continued to pursue her passion for organisations making a positive impact and joined AFG. There wasn’t a HR department then, and Kirsty became HR Advisor for the north division. Taking on her role at a key time of growth, Kirsty was one of seventeen new joiners to create the HR team.
“When I joined, I was utilising my specific skills around TUPE because it played a key part of our growth agenda. Because of that agenda AFG grew massively in the first three years of me being here – I was onboarding new starters all around the north-west and then after this I had the opportunity to move into a more managerial role.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to lead key developments and I’ve even been seconded out to other organisations. My first Executive post came as Director of HR in 2017 and as the organisation has continued to go from strength to strength, my role has grown alongside this. I’m as excited today to be Chief People Officer and Chief Operating Officer for our Learning Disability Division as I was when I joined with seventeen others fifteen years ago.”
What would Kirsty say to someone thinking about joining Alternative Futures Group?
“You’re joining an amazing organisation and you’ll never look back.
You get to work every day knowing that what you’re doing is positively impacting more lives.
Just like the exciting time I joined, we’re in another fantastic period of growth, so applying for a role today might be the start of your own amazing career with AFG.”
