AFG calls on North West MPs to stop National Insurance Contribution rises and protect the delivery of social care

March 6, 2025

The rise in Employer National Insurance Contributions (ENICs) will have a devastating impact on the care and support of people with a learning disability or mental health condition.

But there is still time for HM Treasury to act.

We’ve signed a joint letter to the Houses of Parliament, with VODG (Voluntary Organisations Disability Group) and over 70 member organisations, calling on the government to protect the future of high quality care and support.

Our Chief Executive, Ian Pritchard, said: “Last week, the House of Lords voted in favour of Baroness Barker’s amendment to the Employer National Insurance Contributions Bill, which seeks to maintain the current ENIC levels for charities that provide social care, thereby exempting charities from the harsh increase proposed in the Budget. Today we are calling on our local MPs to support this amendment and protect the delivery of social care in their communities.”
