Independent hospitals

At Alternative Futures Group, we aim to understand our temporary place in supporting people on, or beginning a recovery journey. We aim to offer sharing of experiences, advice and support that is mutual, positive and re-enabling; in order to ensure people reach a position of safety and stability in their lives. From this turning point, we offer a pathway of learning, re-learning and growth to support people to get control of their illness and reclaim their futures.

Through our six independent hospitals across the North West, AFG support some of the most complex and vulnerable people who live with a mental health diagnosis. For some, this means they can be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.

Here at AFG, we see people as individuals and work in partnership with them and significant others to achieve their goals to support their journey to recovery.

At the point of admission, we work with our patients and other agencies to commence discharge planning. This enables us to create a person-centred approach and goals for moving on into the community.

We are able to offer consistent, personalised packages of support that are holistic and are coherently rooted in a psycho-social approach to enable recovery delivered by a team of health professionals. We aspire that people will grow beyond a need for support directly from our recovery centres; and we aim to support people in their journey towards independence and offer support to move and be a part of the community within their own homes.

We have delivered positive outcomes for people we support and work closely with CCG’s to enable innovative pathways incorporating value for money for both block and spot contracts.
