“I am a Support Worker for AFG’s adult care home in Liverpool, supporting people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
I was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and can speak fluent English, French and Zulu. I hold a degree in accountancy and level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care.
Before joining AFG I was an accountant for Unilever in South Africa. I worked in the profession for many years before I felt a call to do something for others.
As a devout Catholic I felt it was a calling from God. Not long after this I was packing my bags and moving to the United Kingdom.
One day when I was looking in a local newspaper, I came across an advertisement from AFG. I’ve now been with AFG for 14 years and counting, and I love my role.
As well as support work, I volunteer at Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and St Vincent De Paul in Liverpool. I also take a leading role in charity work and projects with children’s charities in the Congo. In my spare time I manage a vegetable allotment and donates produce to those in need.
I would not be where I am today without the people I support.”
